Reproducible examples

Check the fee trail against simple inputs

A £10 item for a non-VAT-registered seller has £0.67 commission, £0.39 processing and £0.21 fee VAT: £1.27 total.

The same £10 item for a VAT-registered seller with a VAT number on account has £1.06 deducted by Whatnot before the seller handles their own VAT obligations.

Common questions

Assumptions that change the answer

Why is the fixed fee £0.15 for some orders?

Whatnot currently reduces the fixed processing component from £0.25 to £0.15 when the item subtotal is £10 or less. The programme has no published end date.

When does Whatnot add VAT to fees?

Whatnot says it collects UK VAT on fees from non-VAT-registered sellers, but not from VAT-registered sellers whose number is on the account.

Does this cover every category?

Choose the standard, eligible high-value or Coins & Money profile together with your VAT registration status. Eligibility still depends on Whatnot’s named categories and formats.
