Check the fee trail against simple inputs

An eligible £100 domestic non-vehicle sale by a UK private seller has no final value or regulatory seller fee. Buyer Protection is £4.70, so the buyer sees £104.70 before postage and the seller receives £100 before optional fees.

For the business Antiques schedule, a £132 fee base produces £14.39 final value fee, £0.40 per-order fee and £0.46 regulatory fee, plus £3.05 VAT.

Common questions

Assumptions that change the answer

Is private selling always free?

The zero-fee base case is for eligible UK-based private sellers, domestic delivery and non-vehicle categories. Allowance overages, upgrades and international delivery can cost extra.

Who pays Buyer Protection?

On applicable UK private listings the buyer pays the VAT-inclusive Buyer Protection fee to eBay; it is added to buyer total and is not a seller deduction. The current formula is £0.10 plus marginal 7%, 4% and 2% tiers on item price.

Are business fees VAT-inclusive?

eBay publishes the business fee table exclusive of VAT, so FeeTrail displays standard-rate VAT as separate fee lines.
